About Dorothy King

With over a decade of experience across ecommerce strategy, digital marketing, and store management, Dorothy has established herself as a leader in the ever-changing retail landscape. Driven by a passion for learning, Dorothy has a proven track record as an operator and problem solver. Through Dot Com Consulting, Dorothy is using her experiences and entrepreneurial spirit to create an engine of support for small businesses. Whether rebuilding a website, launching a rewards program or creating an analytics framework, Dorothy puts the customer first and uses her expertise on the back end of a retail business to make drive ROI for clients. 

Prior to launching Dot Com, Dorothy spent most of her career in New York City. Drawn to the vibrancy of the city and the fashion industry specifically, Dorothy cut her teeth working in wholesale sales at Lafayette 148. A desire to be closer to the customer interaction ultimately led her to pursue her MA in Business Design from SCAD. From there, she pivoted to work for earlier stage businesses including The Citizenry, Julie Vos and minnow.  

In each role, Dorothy led and executed major initiatives to drive sales, streamline operations and optimize efficiencies through in store and online shopping experiences. At The Citizenry, that meant creating SOPs and running their first long term retail store. At Julie Vos, that meant leading the ecommerce and customer experience team (through COVID). And most recently, at minnow, that meant directing all aspects of the online business from product launch strategy, to performance marketing analysis to Shopify theme rebuild and optimization. 

Dorothy is inspired by the translation of an idea into a delightful customer experience. That core inspiration drives her to make data based decisions at every point in the customer journey. Through Dot Com, Dorothy brings the expertise small companies need and continues to build best in class shopping experiences.
